Why do I need root canal treatment?
Dr. Choi may determine that a tooth requires root canal treatment:

If the pulp of the tooth is damaged, and/or infected by decay, trauma, gum disease, or deep fillings.

If Dr. Robert Choi has determined that the crown (visible part of the tooth) is extremely weak and requires additional support.

If a crown (cap) or bridgework is necessary for a tooth whose future pulp health is questionable.

Will I feel pain during or after the procedure?
Our goal is to provide a completely pain-free procedure. By using comprehensive local anesthesia, you should not feel any pain during your treatment. After treatment some discomfort may occur but is usually well managed with over-the-counter medications. If necessary, Dr. Choi will prescribe medication.

What is a root canal?
To understand how endodontic therapy or a ‘root canal’ works, please refer to the diagram below. During the procedure, the pulp is cleaned out, the space disinfected and filled.
Root canals can be completed in one or two visits. Your tooth may require a crown if there is not sufficient original enamel to support the tooth.
