Oral Examination

During your visit, Dr. Robert Choi will carefully evaluate your oral health, and discuss with you any concerns you may have. This examination will include a review of your medical and dental history. 

Medical History and Screening

Reviewing your past and current medical history allows us take the necessary precautions during treatment. If you have severe allergies,take medication(s) or being treated for current medical conditions,  please discuss them with Dr. Choi.

Oral Health Examination

The dental hygienist will examine your teeth and gums and assess the condition of prior fillings, crowns, and all other dental work. Using a dental probe, the hygienist also examines the health of your gums, and will check for early signs of periodontal disease. A probe is gently inserted between the teeth and gums to measure the level of "gum adherence" to your teeth. The hygienist records the measurement of each tooth and makes notes of significant pockets or gaps to record future progression.

Safer Digital X-Rays
When a diagnosis needs to be confirmed or an underlying tooth and root structure is examined, x-rays may be necessary. The hygienist or assistant will take a full-mouth digital x-ray or bitewings on molars and premolars. Our modern digital x-ray technology exposes you to less radiation than traditional x-rays. 

Education and Treatment
Dr. Choi and the hygienist will discuss with you the results of the examination and any concerns that need  to be addressed. You can be confident that the treatment plan will be tailored to your needs with  benefits and risks clearly explained.
